Interval Training to Increase Metabolism

Using interval training to increase metabolism has many advantages over other training methods.

In case you are not familiar with interval training, it can be quite simply explained as training using short bursts of high intensity exercise that are separated by recovery periods of low intensity exercise.

An example of this is to sprint for 30 seconds then jog for 1 minute and repeat the cycle for a total of 20 minutes.

Interval training has been found to burn more calories both during and after exercise than exercising at a constant intensity.

A recent 15 week study by researchers at the Garven Institute and the University of New south Wales on 45 women, found those that did interval training for 20 minutes of 8 second sprints followed by 12 seconds of low intensity cycling on an exercise bike, lost 3 times as much weight as the women who cycled at a constant intensity for 40 minutes.

This means that you can get a bigger increase in metabolism exercising in less time using interval training.

I now train twice a week on a stationary exercise bike using interval training and have found it to be one of the most effective exercises I have done. For losing weight and toning leg muscles it is simply outstanding.

If you are like me and struggle to find the time to devote to exercise. Interval training to increase metabolism and lose weight is an excellent way to get the best results – Try it you will not believe how good a work out you can give yourself in such a short time and the results are very quickly noticeable.
