What are the Best Exercises To Boost Metabolism?

Incorporating exercises to boost metabolism in your program is very important if you are to achieve your weight loss goals.

As Discussed in Maximum Metabolism resistance based exercises will give you the biggest metabolism increase, as they increase your muscle mass which has high energy demands, even while resting.

Cardio exercises that compliment your resistance training are an excellent way to condition your body and maximize your metabolism.

Interval training using aerobic based resistance exercises are by far the most effective.

Interval training involves training in short bursts of high intensity exercise, with low intensity periods in between to allow partial recovery before being worked to capacity again in the following high intensity set. This cycle can be repeated as required.

Various studies have shown that high intensity interval training like this is more effective in burning calories than longer low intensity aerobic workouts.

One of the best examples of this type of exercise is a cycling class at the gym. These classes normally involve cycling a stationery fitness bike for 45 to 60 minutes in total.

During this time, the cycling speed and/or resistance are increased for set intervals, with slower zero resistance recovery periods in between each.

This is an excellent cardio exercise that helps to improve your heart and lung efficiency.

Plus this resistance based exercise helps to tone and develop your leg muscles which being the biggest muscle group in your body can give you a significant metabolism increase.

I do a cycle class on days in between my resistance training days a couple of times a week.

The muscle development and leg toning from this type of cycling is noticeable, plus it offers a low impact and low risk method of training that you can keep doing without fear of injury for as long as you live.

And remember, always check with a qualified medical practitioner before commencing an exercise program.

I wish you success.
